Administrator-in-Training Program (AIT)
The State of California's program to train administrators for long
term care facilities includes a six month residency training program
known as the Administrator in Training Program (AIT).
Completion of a baccalaureate degree in the heatlh sciences is
frequently accepted by long term care facilities as sufficient academic
preparation to apply for an AIT Program. However, students in the
AIT residency program may also be in a Master's Degree Program.
When a student has completed both the B.S. degree in health sciences
and the six month AIT residency program, the student may qualify
to take the state licensure exam for long term care administrators.
Many AIT residency programs offer stipends; students interested
in stipends should inquire about compensation at the time of application.
For current information about AIT Programs and state licensure,
visit the websites of long term care facilities and visit the website
for the California State Department of Consumer Affairs and the
professional associations for long term care administrators.
More information will be provided in the near future as we continue
to develop our links with licensure and certification programs in
greatest demand by our students.
