Some equivalent courses offered at nearby colleges are listed at the bottom of this page. For additional information about transfer courses visit Assist.

Enrollment Services evaluates courses transferred from other schools. After you submit a transcript accompanied by either an "Admissions" form, a "Request for Additional Credit" form, or a "Change of Major" form Enrollment Services determines whether the courses are transferable to CSUH; and if so, which general education requirements they meet. Your Psychology faculty adviser can help you understand the meaning of the evaluations provided by Enrollment Services, and the repercussions of changing majors. Your Psychology adviser does NOT, however, determine which transfer courses meet general education requirements.

Your Psychology faculty adviser CAN tell you how to determine whether a transfer course meets a requirement in the Psychology major. Most schools offer courses that are equivalent to Psychology 1000 at Hayward and may offer courses that are equivalent to Psychology 2020.

Normally, courses from community colleges, which are all lower-division courses, are not accepted as equivalent to upper-division courses (courses numbered 3000 or higher).

For transferring upper-division courses from four-year colleges, your adviser will send you to talk with faculty members who teach the courses of interest. They will talk with you and determine the course equivalency based on what you actually studied in your course, the textbook that you used, the catalog description, and other factors.

If you take a course somewhere else after you enroll at Hayward and want to transfer it, be sure that you send both a transcript and a "Request for Additional Credit" form to the Office of Admissions and Records.
