Professional Interests, Research and Studies
My research focuses on personality processes as they are revealed in patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion in the context of close relationships. For example, I investigate questions such as: How do personality variables influence how people think and feel about their relationship partners, and how they behave toward them? How do these relationship-relevant thoughts, feelings, and behaviors shape the development, maintenance, and stability of relationships? To examine these processes, I use different theoretical frameworks (e.g., regulatory focus theory, attachment theory), and a multi-method approach (e.g., behavioral observation methods, experimental methods, self-report measures). I am frequently looking for motivated and conscientious students who are interested in gaining experience with relationship research in different stages. |
