Winter Seminar SeriesPresentation by: Dr. Stanley Johnsen Title: Medical and Industrial Uses of Electron Linear Accelerators Abstract: Electron accelerators producing beams of electrons with energies up to a few tens of megavolts have a variety of uses in industrial and medical applications. This talk will discuss the technology of generating such beams and some of the applications for those beams. Applications include the generation of high-intensity x-ray beams for the treatment of cancer, sterilization of medical disposables, removal of pathogens and vermin in food supplies and x-radiography of large items such as reactor vessels and cargo containers.
