The Layout project is targeted to provide a free alternative to the expensive commercial CAD programs currently used in industry. It provides hands on design environment for students to develop integrated circuits and micro electromechanical systems on a windows platform. Features include 2 1/2 Dimension, allows for hierarchical design, and a novel approach to wire handling.
