Theory of Partitions
A reasonably accessible and chronologically inaccurate introduction to The Theory of Partitions and its connections to number theory, combinatorics, group theory, complex analysis, patience, chess, particle physics, and ping pong.
What is partition theory? Why do we study it? What are its coolest theorems? How does it tie in to other areas of mathematics? In this talk, we take a whirlwind tour of the theory of partitions, and answer all of the above questions. The talk will be aimed at the partition-theoretically uninitiated, and should be reasonably accessible to everyone.
Pizza and soda will be served for those attending!
