Research Experience in Remote Control

of Visual Scientific Instruments

Over the last year, as part of a National Science Foundation grant, two undergraduate Computer Science students, William Banks and Jeremy Wall have participated as research assistants in a CSU project to develop remote access to scientific equipment.

Their duties have offered them a unique chance to hone their skills. They

have been involved in planning, development, maintenance, and testing in a software development facility that houses an electron microscope, servers, networking, and video switching equipment.

This talk will introduce the project and give them an opportunity to discuss their experiences.
