The New World in System Design:

Hardware/Software Co-Design

- Why is HW/SW co-design becoming vital for system level design?

- What is SystemC and why is it a key enabler?

- What EDA tools are being used for HW/SW co-design?

- Research topics

Dr. Mark Flomenhoft has worked in electronic design automation for over 30 years in

R&D, marketing, and business development. He spent 9 years at Bell Labs, where he did

CAD development and IC design. He then moved to Intel in 1976 to start the CAD effort for microprocessor design. In 1984 he co-founded Tangent Systems, whose innovative place-and-route technology was the basis for Cadence Design System's ASIC.

Dr. Flomenhoft is currently Vice President of System Level Design at Synopsys. He also serves as an officer of CANDE, the Technical Committee on CAD of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.
