A pool of applicants is being sought by several departments
for possible temporary teaching positions in the College of Science,
Cal State East Bay, for one or more quarters of the 2008-09 academic
year. Lecturers currently in the 2007-08 temporary pool must submit a
written intent to remain in the 2008-09 temporary pool along with an
updated CV. Applications will be kept on file from Summer Quarter 2008
through Spring Quarter 2009, or until hiring for the Spring Quarter is
complete.
Openings will be filled from the pool of applicants before
the start of each term. In addition, employment is contingent on course
enrollment and budget. For additional information, direct your

| BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES |
POSITION NUMBER: 08-09 BIOL PT-1 |
|
Part-time lecturer positions teaching major and non-major
courses in Biology including:
- Introductory Biology
- Botany
- Zoology
- Genetics
- Cell & Molecular Biology
- Evolution
- Developmental Genetics
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Human Physiology and Anatomy
- General Physiology
- Ecology
A Ph.D. degree required for these positions. However, for
certain non-major courses only, the Ph.D. requirement may be waived.

A few instructors will be hired to teach lower division
laboratory sections in
- Introduction to Biology
- Zoology
- Botany
- Cell and Molecular Biology
While a Ph.D. degree is preferred, some lab appointments will
be made to students enrolled in the Master's degree program in the
Department of Biological Sciences.

Possible part-time positions teaching introductory and
advanced Chemistry and Biochemistry classes, Ph.D. required. Lecturer
positions in laboratory classes may also be available, minimum
requirement is M. S. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or enrollment in the
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry M.S. Degree program. A Ph.D.
Degree is preferred for the laboratory classes.

Possible part-time positions teaching introduction to
computers, beginning programming, assembly language, and advanced
computer science. Minimum requirement of M.A. or M.S. in Computer
Science or related field with teaching experience in Computer Science
or enrollment in the department's graduate program. Preference may be
given to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Mathematics
and Computer Science.

and Environmental Science, Earth Systems Science, Planetary Science,
Introductory Oceanography, Meteorology, Groundwater Chemistry, and graduate classes
in applied fields, e.g., Hydrogeology, GIS, Engineering Geology.
Minimum requirement of M.S. in Geology, Environmental Science or its
equivalent, or enrollment in a graduate degree program in Geology or
Environmental Science.

to majors and non- majors. Examples include Introduction to Health

Health, Environmental Stress and Health, Personal Nutrition, and Health
Legislation Regulation. Minimum of M. S. in appropriate field.

Possible part-time positions teaching pre-calculus algebra,
introductory calculus, business mathematics (finite mathematics and
calculus), and occasionally more advanced mathematics courses. Minimum
requirement of M.A. or M.S. in Mathematics or its equivalent or
enrollment in the department's graduate program. Preference may be
given to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Mathematics
and Computer Science.

Possible part-time positions teaching undergraduate
Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatric, Perinatal, Gerontologic, Mental
Health, Community Health Nursing, Pharmacology and Legal
Responsibilities of Health Care Providers. Minimum qualifications: M.S.
in Nursing or appropriate degree for specialty, appropriate California
license, one year of clinical experience. Part-time position teaching
Nutrition/Medical Nutrition Therapy. Minimum M. S. in appropriate
field. Teaching experience at University level preferred for all
positions.
